Miss London Concierge were thrilled to catch up with the fabulous Josephine from Lore Group, an international hospitality company that designs, transforms, manages and operates hotel and food and drinks concepts in notable Cities, to talk about their four stunning hotels and all things events and re-opening plans. One of thier hotels (which i’m sure many of you have heard of or visited) is the fabulus Sea Containers London. If you haven’t visited 12th Knot for a cocktail, you must go!
Tell us a little bit about yoursellf, your role at Lore Group and how long you have worked for the group?
I have worked for Lore Group since its launch in November 2018, when we brought together our owned hotels under the brand. I look after MICE for our hotels focusing mainly on the UK and European market to raise awareness of our hotels and Lore Group, and continue to build and develop relationships with our clients.
What do you love most about your role?
Our hotels are very unique and we have a wonderful culture and DNA within our company. It’s a role that changes daily with the opportunity of travel and to maintain great relationships with our clients many of whom I now called friends. As a company, we are a close team and I love working with my colleagues in Amsterdam, London and Washington DC.
How many venues are currently in your portfolio?
Four: Pulitzer Amsterdam – Kimpton de Witt Amsterdam – Sea Containers London – Riggs Washington DC
Do you have a favourite venue and why?
I really couldn’t choose as each hotel is very different and unique to its destination and community around it. That’s what makes them so distinctive. From our 12th floor rooftop bar at Sea Containers, to the tranquil gardens in Pulitzer, or Super Lyan – the cocktail bar at Kimpton de Witt – to finally our incredible rooftop event space at Riggs DC with its views over the city, it’s too hard to choose. I guess I have a favourite in each hotel.
Tell us about the types of events that you host at your venues.
They are completely varied; residential conferences, sales kick off meetings, incentive/reward programs, press launches, private receptions and social events. We offer a lot of flexibility through our venues – even buyouts are an option.
Is there a stand out event that you have organised and are really proud of?
Every event is important to me as its about meeting client expectations, whether that’s a glamourous press launch or a one day board meeting. We always want to ensure we meet expectation and build loyalty across our hotels.
How have you been spending your time in lockdown?
Lots of time with the family, I have children so it’s been wonderful being at home with them, having a routine with work but equally spending quality time with them. We have been cooking and baking (lots of banana bread !) and experimenting with different types of food, as well as enjoying evenings in the garden with a glass of gin.
Your venues were closed for a long period of time along with the rest of the country and events put on hold. How have you stayed connected to your community, guests and bookers?
All of our hotels have worked with their local communities on various charity projects from The Felix Project to Ronald McDonald Houses. As a team we have continued to engage with our clients through social media, lots of zoom and teams calls sharing communication and supporting them. We have also engaged with our partners through virtual social activities which have been well received and lots of fun.
Do you have a date you are planning to re-open at this stage?
Excitingly, Pulitzer Amsterdam re-opened its doors on 15th July, Riggs DC will re-open on 11th August, Sea Containers on 15th August (although the restaurant will reopen from 1st August). The last of our hotels will be Kimpton de Witt end of August, as we have been busy renovating our lobby area and launching our new meeting space and restaurant Celia.
What plans and safety measures are you putting in place when your doors re-open and you welcome guests and event bookings back to your venues?
Each hotel has its own health and safety guideline and protocol, the teams have been busy working on this for a number of months. From social distancing, to contactless experience, cleaning and health protocols to flexibility on bookings. Ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of all our guests in a trusted environment.
Are you currently still receiving enquires for late 2020?
We are, and with the recent announcement from the government, we hope to see more. Each enquiry is a spark of green shoots.
Are you venues fully equipped to host virtual and Hybrid events?
Yes, we are. We need to adapt and be agile in this new normal and offer flexibility to support hybrid and virtual meetings moving forward.
Do you think event bookers will always prefer live events to virtual events or do you think virtual and Hybrid events will become the new norm?
There will be a hunger for live events to come back in a safe and secure way, however in the interim virtual and hybrid events are the perfect solution for us to stay engaged. Humans have a need to get together, network, educate and learn from each other, nothing can replace human connection.
What positive have you taken from lockdown and what advise would you give to other people to stay positive during this time?
The last few months have been difficult and challenging for all of us, however it is important to stay positive and confident as we will get through this period and look back at it with a new respect for each other. Our industry although hurting is strong and supporting each other is vital as we move forward. Our sector is built on relationships, people and trust.
